A recent article in the Guardian highlights the dangers of looking down at a phone or tablet for long periods. Read Article
I am seeing more of this in patients and have long advised people about the perils of long periods on laptops, phones and tablets, looking down at the screens. The physio in the article naively advises calling instead of texting, but it is obviously not just texting – it is the web searching, emails, games etc that people are using these devices for. Best is to limit your time – there are apps available that will alert you to take a break after a period of time. If you need to use computer applications for a long period, much better to use a properly set up desk top than a tablet, laptop or phone. If you already have a sore neck and shoulders – come and see me!!
